Overview of OCA Full Lamination

OCA (Optically Clear Adhesive): OCA is a type of adhesive that is highly transparent and used in laminating touch panels, LCDs, PC Lens to the display windows of membrane switches or graphic overlays. It ensures that the layers in the display stack are bonded without affecting the optical clarity of the display. LuphiTouch® has two 1000 class clean room for optical OCA lamination process. At the same time in our quality department we also has a 1000 class clean booth to make the quality checking for the optical assembled products.

Optical Full Lamination Process in LuphiTouch®:

Preparation

Clean the surfaces of the membrane switch and the display window to remove any dust, oils, or contaminants. Ensure that the working environment is free from dust to prevent any particles from getting trapped during lamination.

Adhesive Application

Apply the OCA adhesive uniformly across the surface of the display window or the membrane switch. This can be done using automated machines to ensure precision and consistency.

Alignment

Carefully align the display window with the membrane switch. Proper alignment is crucial to avoid any misalignment that could affect the functionality and aesthetics of the display.

Lamination

Use a laminating machine to apply pressure and heat (if necessary) to bond the layers together. The OCA adhesive ensures a strong bond without bubbles or defects. Perform the lamination in a vacuum environment if possible, to eliminate any trapped air and achieve a bubble-free result.

Curing

Allow the adhesive to cure, ensuring it has fully bonded the layers together. The curing process may involve maintaining specific temperature and humidity conditions.

Defoaming

After full laminated optical parts on the backside of the display window, it shall be go to the defoaming process. The purpose of this process is just to defoam any tracked air out to avoid any air bubbles occurring. 

Inspection

Inspect the laminated display window for any defects such as bubbles, misalignment, or optical distortions. Perform functional tests to ensure the display and touch functionalities are working as expected.
