Solutions for Printing on Matt EBG
Many people told us that printing ink on EBG material is not good for membrane switches. Mainly because the adhesion isn’t long-lasting. But usually, the membrane keypads need to use the EBG material which is anti-scratch with a long life-span. In order to solve this problem and also prove that it can be printed ink on EBG matte surface, LUPHI ELECTRONICS did some experiments and tests.
Below are the details:
We tested 5 different types of clear varnish ink on EBG, PET material for membrane switches.
UB-1, UB-2, B-15, 09-CL2KG and 09-CL5KG

- The adhesion capability of B-15 is the worst.
- UB-1 and UB-2 are much better.
- 09-CL2KG and 09-CL5KG are the best, with no dropping of the ink after did various kinds of testing.
Through UV oven parameters:
Three light tubes are lighted together, rotation speed set 35, pass through twice.
Testing methods: scratching testing, embossing testing, and cutting testing.
Conclusion : Varnish ink printing on Matt EBG surface is sucessful, its adhesion is strong and a long service time
Though Using the above methods, we had a good conclusion, which is that we have printed various graphics on EBG material sucessfully. Even the paint lasting a long time, also with many properties. Included of a strong anti-scratching feature, due to the surface of the graphic overlay for membrane switch is uneven so that the paint is not easy to drop from it’s surface. That is a good solution of Ink Printing on Matt EBG for Membrane Switches. Luphi have done it .
